![]() lack those advanced features (no tessellation unit and only shader model 4) and therefore will run only with DX10 features since DX11 will automatically detect the capabilities of the graphics card used. ![]() DX11 is still backwards compatible with DX9 and DX10, but to be able to use all the advanced features of DX11 such as tessellation and shader model 5, the hardware must be capable of those features. With older screens, you can use an HDMI to DVI adapter and then simply plug headphones or speakers into the controller to get audio, which surprisingly results in excellent audio quality.Full DX11 support is actually a combination of software (API) and hardware features of the graphics card. Another advantage the Xbox One has over the PS4 is that it can run a large number of Xbox 360 titles, which are very cheap used, through its backwards compatibility program.Įven as a die-hard PC-gamer, in terms of bang for your buck, Microsoft's console is hard to beat.Īll you need for this console is some sort of screen (ideally with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution above 720p) that has either HDMI or DVI input (even VGA would be possible with an adapter, but your mileage may vary). The significantly more expensive PS4 offers many more exclusives on the other hand, but controller and subscription service are considerably worse. ![]() It also comes with online multiplayer and some rebates on digital games purchases.Ī base Xbox One is not the most powerful console (it's a bit less powerful than a base Playstation 4, which means that many games will run at a slightly lower resolution, level of detail and frame rate), but it still produces pleasant visuals and has a large library of multiplatform titles, as well as a few exclusives, like the excellent Forza series of racing games. The Life is Strange series is part of the catalog. This is a subscription service with around 100 titles on offer, which you can play as long as you are a subscriber. Games prices are higher than on PC, but you can take advantage of used and rented games (my local library has a healthy selection of recent console games, for example), as well as Microsoft Game Pass, which is two bucks in the first two months and then ten bucks (for console only) or 13 bucks (console and PC) per month. Outside of PC gaming, the cheapest current gaming system is a used Xbox One, which can be found for less than $100 or your regional equivalent. If you need any help with building or purchasing a PC, feel free to ask. A PC that would be just capable of playing Life is Strange 2 (and not more demanding titles) would be considerably cheaper however. ![]() With used components, you could probably build something that's comparable for $100 to 150 less. A halfway decent entry-level gaming PC with new components would cost around $500 (more if you are not living in the US). If you want to play current games, you need to purchase a device capable of playing them. Check hardware requirements next time before getting a new game. If you can, I would demand a refund for this game. Unfortunately, as far as gaming outside of simple 2D and very undemanding e-sports titles is concerned, your machine is pretty much obsolete. Your laptop does have as much RAM as needed by the game, but the CPU is only about half as fast as the CPUs listed in the game's minimum requirements. In synthetic benchmarks, the minimum required GPUs to run this game are between 15 and 20 times faster than your GPU. Since this is an integrated GPU from almost a decade ago, it would not be able to run this title anyway, even if it did support DX11. Your integrated GPU (Intel GMA HD) does not support DirectX 11, which is needed by the game to run.
